Carlito's Way
Carlito Gay-Ya has a way - with people. As the bartender at Silver Cloud's aptly named "The Bar," Carlito is a real crowd pleaser. He is never without a smile, a friendly greeting, and, of course, your favorite cocktail.
How does he keep such a positive attitude day after day? After all, he encounters all kinds of passengers, some perhaps a tad difficult to deal with. Nine years with Silversea, Carlito says he begins getting ready for his bar shift by "leaving any problems in the cabin," which could double as good advice for cruise passengers.
If you are a long-time cruiser, you may remember Carlito from Crystal Cruises, where he worked from 1992-1999 and one year achieved the distinction of "Employee of the Year." Crystal rewarded him with $2000 and a business class ticket home.
Carlito hasn't lost any of the qualities that make his service recognizable, as on Crystal. He genuinely enjoys meeting people. That's just Carlito's way.
